Reviewers Guidelines

Peer Review Procedure

The articles will be reviewed using the external peer evaluation system in the double-blind modality; in case of discrepancy between the reviewers, a third review will be used. To guarantee maximum objectivity and coherence in the evaluation process, the submitted text must not have elements that allow the identification of its authors. The final decision to publish the article is made by the director of the magazine and the editor, based on the outcome of the evaluation process. In this way, the result of the evaluation will have as its sole element of assessment the intellectual quality and the scientific and academic relevance of the text. These revisions are made through the OJS system in its most up-to-date version.

The RECIE's review board is composed of national and international professionals with extensive experience in various pedagogy topics addressed by the journal. In an effort to maintain transparent practices, RECIE instantly discloses the names, affiliations, and countries of the reviewers after the review is completed. The complete list of reviewers is available at https://revistas.isfodosu.edu.do/index.php/recie/reviewers.

The evaluators of each number:

  • Will act according to criteria of competence, confidentiality, impartiality, honesty, diligence, respect, and courtesy.
  • They commit to carry out a critical, honest, constructive, and objective review of both the scientific quality and the literary quality of the work.
  • They will comply with the deadline established for the review.
  • They will review articles as long as they are competent in the matter and there is no conflict of interest.
  • They commit to inform the editors if the received text has been published previously if they are aware of it and if they have news of it by means other than the Caribbean Journal of Educational Research.

Evaluation Criteria

Theme: The theme of the manuscript must adhere to the general theme of the journal.

Originality: Manuscripts submitted to RECIE must not have been published in any other instance (magazine, conference, book, etc.). All manuscripts are evaluated by the Editorial Committee using the academic plagiarism prevention platform Turnitin to guarantee these criteria. For more information on penalties for plagiarism, see RECIE's Editorial Policy.

Relevance: The subject matter of the manuscript, as well as the reasoning, data, and analysis, must be at the forefront of the knowledge in the corresponding area of study. Equally, the study must be of interest to the academic community.

Writing: The writing of the manuscripts must adhere to the writing standards commonly used in scientific articles.

Method: the strategies, techniques and tools of scientific investigation need to be described in detail. The complete description of the methods implemented allows the reader to assess whether the methodology is appropriate, as well as the reliability and validity of the results.

Results: the data collected, and the analysis of the most relevant data will be summarized, without interpreting or making value judgments. Even results that go against expectations will be presented. If the results are the outcome of an empirical investigation, they can be presented in figures and tables, avoiding redundancy. It is necessary that each diagram, graph, or figure contains its legend or intellectual attribution.

Discussion and conclusions: examination, interpretation, and classification of the results, contrasting the observations of the author with other studies of similar interest. The data or other materials already mentioned in other sections should not be repeated. Inferences will be made from the results obtained and their limitations, likewise, the conclusions will be linked with the objectives of the study, avoiding gratuitous or fallacious statements. The conclusions must be fully supported by the data and evidence presented by the investigation.

Review process

When creating an user in RECIE’s OJS, there is the option to register as a reviewer and indicate the areas of interest.

The review request must be accepted or rejected by the reviewer within a period of no more than 10 calendar days. The acceptance or rejection of the request for review must be carried out in the same system of the journal. All communications will be made in RECIE’s OJS.

By accepting the request, the reviewer will have access to the submission and the online assessment tool. This process has a maximum duration of 30 calendar days. After the review is completed, the evaluator must send it to the editor and attach a document with comments. The editor will review the evaluation and send a thank you email with a certificate of collaboration.

When the blind peer review process is complete, the editor analyzes the reviewers' comments, issues the verdict, and communicates it to the authors. This verdict can be accepted, accepted subject to changes, and rejected. In the case of being accepted subject to changes, a period of 10 calendar days will be given for the inclusion of the requested changes.
